A vintage wheelbarrow, classroom desk, posies in glass jars and a superb ocean backdrop, equals wedding in style and the perfect opportunity for some gorgeous bridal snaps. After attending a divinely rustic beach wedding on the weekend, I set about searching for unique bridal shoes which not only captured my heart, but which ooze character - character which can only be defined by the woman wearing them.

Whether you are vintage chic, funky fashion, beach or classic, one aspect remains constant for all bride-to-be's, and that is the desire to be unique. Stand apart from the rest. Emit your own vibe and wed in that dress, that veil, those shoes, that location, that food and of course, that man who completes you.

Below is the stunning beach backdrop with tribal flames, guest list sewn together with straw, Bride and Groom table with black candles. An inspirational setting.

Gold Fly Bridal - For the bride with simple yet discerning style, these gorgeous 2.5 inch slips are a subtle centrepiece for that special day. Golden silk upper, leather lining and embroidered floral design, these golden oldies would look stunning with a simple latte infused gown.

Ruche Bridal - A sweet little online boutique, with an eclectic mix of old and new, Ruche is modern, trendy and vintage all at once. Each item is carefully handpicked to ensure the finest of materials and the perfect selection. These unique and adorable gold studded heels are a sophisticated mix of funk, vintage and classic.

Queen Victoria wore these little tots on her wedding day in 1840. The detailed inscription on the inner sole suggests that these no-nonsense jiffies were a gift to the queen from Gundry and Sons. They really are quite beautiful.

Argenta Bridal - Stunning wee bootie, with 3.5 inch heel, silk lace and fabulous embroidery detail. A little different to the usual stiletto, but it has a hint of cheek which I love!

Christian Louboutin 'Dillian' for Phillip Lim - If you are brave enough to strut something loud, then do it proudly. Available in a variety of colours, the 'Dillian' pump is sure to make a statement, especially under that petit little bridal gown. I love the way the flower explodes loudly from the shoe and sits neatly of it's skinny straps.

Vintage Ballet Flats - Post ceremony, slip into something a little more comfortable so you can sip champagne, mingle with friends and family and dance the night away in a simple, yet chic pair of vintage ballet flats.

Streets of Melbourne

I recently returned from the hectic Melbourne Fashion Festival, where I spent some time interviewing, sourcing and snapping photos of the city's wonderful eclectic edge. After a busy five days in downtown Melbourne I realised that the most enjoyable part of my week was not the parties, the mingling, the interviewing. Nor was it the alluring fashion labels staring me point blank in the face (of course, they were torturous). What I really loved about Melbourne, which I never appreciated as a young'un was its myriad of hidden treasures. Its rawness of spirit and creative youthfulness which is all too rare in major cities. I loved bumping into cafe after cafe, boutique bookstores and antique record stores. The hundreds of secret alleyways leading to eclectic nightclubs only locals know how to find.

Melbourne is a city where art and culture thrive and you can feel it exuding from the ever-so-stylish natives who buzz around the city. Graffiti strewn walls are embraced beyond belief, with trendy cafes serving great coffee popping up in the midst of what appears to have once been a derelict dumpster. I wanted to share some snaps of my Melbourne week and recommended cafes, precincts and boutiques. I have promised myself to return again sooner!

Graffiti strewn wall - A1, Fitzroy.

I started each morning with a scout around the city, in search of the most unique coffee spot to sit and enjoy a smooth soy latte. My only trouble was deciding which joint to stop at, in fear of the place around the corner being even more inviting! First stop - Ray Cafe on Victoria Street, Brunswick. A former derelict house, turned rustic coffee spot for the eclectic residents of Fitzroy.

Pitt stop at a hole in the wall in Balaclava, East St Kilda. What an adorable little place. Rustic interior, super friendly service and graffiti splashed across the wall where locals sit, chat and sip great coffee. I will come back here.

The Greenhouse Cafe, in Federation Square was designed by Dutch-Australian artist, Joost Bakker. The project is a living, breathing example of sustainable design in a consumer society. Everything within the green walls of this innovative cafe is 100% recyclable, with chairs and floors made from reclaimed materials and serving only organic coffee (in glass jars). I was blown away by the execution of this brilliant design concept.

Of course I did some window shopping whilst in the fashion capital of Australia and I must add - I had a ball! Below are some snaps of my favourite boutiques in and around the city. First up, Kinki Gerlinki Boutique - for retro, vintage and rockstar pieces. Find it at 22 Centre Place, Melbourne. Do not miss it. It is amazing.

If you are into real vintage wear at old-school prices, try Retrostar at 1st Flr 37 Swanston St Melbourne. It rocked my socks off! Recycled. Reworn. Revamped.

I found the most enviable range of beautiful and quality shoes in Melbourne at the Miss Louise boutique at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Each and every pair are a work of art.

For the die-hard music fans, with an eclectic style and sense of nostalgia, Greville Street Records is as close to Empire Record passion as you can get. Great music, edgy store design and a great laid back vibe.

Lastly, but by no means least (and this is no where near an exhaustive list) is Shag at 130 Chapel St Windsor. The clothing here is divine, unique and very reasonably priced. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Take a Peep... Or Two!

I popped into the Peeptoe VIP night over the weekend and joined in the organised chaos that was a MASSIVE Peeptoe sale - complete with bottles of bubbly and layers of PT cupcakes which, by the way, were divine! I carefully pushed my way through crowds of girls desperate to get their hands on the hottest heels and latest accessories, all the while ogling over the fabulous designs as I went.

How tall is too tall? Ever tried climbing a ladder in heels? It's almost as difficult as trying to walk in a pair... Among the long list of items women around the globe have unwavering affection for (Johnny Depp springs to mind), high heels is one of the most puzzling. We women are a crazy lot. We all know heels are painful, bad for our posture, uncomfortable and nasty on the bank account, though we still choose to persist. This season it seems our favourite designers, including Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Balenciaga and Miu Miu are battling it out to take our breath away with oh-so-high six, seven, ten inch platform heels. For everyday wear, of course. I have selected a handful of impressive ankle breakers and can only cross my fingers I don't topple head over heels!

Marni Metallic Peep Toe Platform - Marni was established in 1994 by the Castoglioni family who were determined to carve out a niche market in the fashion industry. And carve it they did - today Marni is regarded as one of the most prestigious boutique fashion labels in the world. Quality materials, eclectic style and edgy designs. It is no wonder Marni is fast becoming a household name. Well, a fashionistas household name. The metallic pump with chunky wooden heel is pure Marni and has a stunning al natural touch. Team them with a pair of ribbed woolen tights or bare legged in a chocolate shift dress. Stunning.
Christian Louboutin Scarpe Platform Slingbacks - Ahhhh Christian... What more can we say? With such discerning style and impeccable taste, Christian Louboutin rarely falls short of brilliance. This is no exception. Measuring just over six inches, the Scarpe Platform Slingback throws soft, neutral tones against a patent black upper, creating and elegant yet chic effect. These platforms are so beautifully crafted they will forever be the prized centrepiece of any outfit. Get in first before I snatch them all!

Giuseppe Zanotti Platform - Every pair of shoes to leave Giuseppe Zanotti's hands are a piece of art. Soft blues and white, brush stroke detailing and a great chunky platform make this shoe a masterpiece. With 100% leather upper, lining and sole and a stunning heel, measuring over 5.25 inches these shoes are surely a step ahead of the rest!

Dolce Vita Madison Pump - In times like these (although it doesn't hurt to take a peek), those Christian Louboutin's, Nicholas Kirkwood's and Jimmy Choo's may need to take a back seat. Instead, indulge in a glamorous substitute from Dolce Vita and look 10 feet taller (well... 4.5 inches) without breaking the bank. Dolce Vita have designed a fabulous range of simple, yet sexy 'hidden platform pumps'. They are a classic shape with a stacked heel and complete with a variegated leather upper. High style has suddenly become affordable - get in while you can!

Vintage Volumes

When it comes to stylizing a wardrobe, it will never be quite complete without a good pair (or twelve) of vintage (or should I say pre-loved) shoes. This gorgeous rustic cottage gave me inspiration to source out some vintage beauties for the feet. Let's not take the term 'vintage' too seriously as some of my finds do not originate from a previous era. However they retain that old-school vibe, that funky class we all love in a gold old pair of vintage scuffs!

Devi Kroell Shell Bootie - Devi Kroell is a New York based designer who finds much of her inspiration from iconic Viennese artists. The Golden Bootie is symbolic of an 18th Century boot worn by women of note. The curved heel and long upper are typical of this particular era in Vienna. I could prop them in my wardrobe to simply ogle and admire - they are a fabulous vintage find and a beautiful piece of art.
Irregular Choice Gypsey Girl Heels - Surprisingly mainstream for Irregular Choice, these embroidered pink heels are a lovely piece of femininity. They have a unique design with all suede upper, gathered vamp toebox and decorative synthetic sole. Capture old world elegance with simplicity and style.
Miz Mooz Sensei Pump - 'Concieved in a Basement office', Miz Mooz is dedicated to the edgy and the eclectic, creating a range of unique vintage inspired shoes. The Sensei Pump has a leather upper and fabulous stacked heel, measuring 3.5 inches. It's vintage, it's chic and an adorable colour of mint.
Ann Demeulemeester Lace Up Boots - These lace ups from Ann Demeulemeester are an incredible piece of hard-arse art. They scream rugged goth-witch, yet exude class and style. They are a loose connection to vintage, though I just had to include them as they would look fabulous worn time and time again. Recycled. Revamped. Reworn. Before you know it these beauties will be popping up in vintage stores all over the place. Get in first!

Rampage Catalina Pump - It is a common mis-belief that vintage means el cheapo bargain style fashion. The reality is, you will more likely pay exorbitant prices for vintage or pre-loved items simply because it's, well... vintage. Everyone wants to be wrapped in a recycled YSL jacket or scuffed Ann Demeulemeester boots, therefore we pay a premium. That's why I love Rampage. Rampage have developed a vintage inspired shoe line that wont break the bank. These adorable red Catalina T-Straps are swinging 60s style pumps - oh so cute!

Booties to Boot!

Cutout Booties - Designed to give the appearance of a snug boot, while allowing airflow through their many gaps, keeping we gals more comfy. Clever. A great alternative for summer and cute with a pair of tights in winter. Below are a few of my favourites...

Miu Miu 'Harlequin Booties' - Prada generally keep it pretty close to the chest. I love that they have taken a risk with Miu Miu. Miu Miu strays far from the norm, producing bright and bold designs - perhaps not appealing to the masses, but damn it who cares! Black suede, with gorgeous pink and white checks. An easy strap over the ankle with leather lace and heel adorned with rhinestones.

Alessandro Dell "Aqua Flower Bootie' - A fabulous find. Elegant black flower detail booties. This Alessandro Dell pair are intricately sewn with a leather lace and fine black stiletto heel.
Sadie 'Three Strap Bootie' - A splash of colour in the wardrobe never goes astray and these gorgeous booties from Sadie will definitely help. Red suede and a brown leather strap will do the trick with a simple black dress and perhaps some black tights. The cone shaped brown heel to match the strap is divine. I have never been so impressed with a pair of Sadie's.

Givenchy 'Cutout Booties' - Last but by no means least... If you're going to add that splash of colour to your wardrobe, don't be shy about it! Givenchy has released a bold statement of pink and I love it. Patent pink booties with gorgeous butterfly holes - team them with black jeans and a simple white tee - no more needs to be said.

Enchante Fellow Shoe Buffs

Hola fashionistas! and welcome to my sparkling new Stiletto Blog. My name is Jane, I adore shoes and am an avid writer so, consequently have decided to combine the two. I am mad about shoes, but not just any shoes... I like chic, something that is unique, a must-have, bright and bold. I like subtle differences and I love vintage. Stilettos. Chunky heels. Wedges. A pair you have to scavenge to find. Red heels. Op shops and boutiques - they both have their beauties... Anything a little different will be on my list. My postings will be mainly about the high heel world, though will throw in some flats and others if they happen to be worth it. I will be posting regularly and can't wait to hear what you all have to add.
